Overview:
Thermal water in the Budapest area has been used at least since the ancient Roman times. The first modern open-air bath of Budapest, the Palatinus, opened on Margaret Island in 1921. At the time Palatinus had the largest pool in all of Europe. New indoor areas were created with the reconstruction: a cute pool for kids, one with thermal water for the adults, and some new saunas with an ice cold immersion pool. Boost up that circulation!
Unfortunately this year the water is extremely dirty with black slime/mold floating around as the residue is not being cleaned in between tiles. We do not remember it being so dirty. Do not feel it is safe for adults but especially for kids who always swallow water.

Definitely the most fun and kid friendly of the thermal baths. Outside baths were great and clean. The slides were a lot of fun as was the wave pool. Good selection of food on site, could easily spend the whole day. Inside baths were limited - quite small and only one sauna was open but didn’t affect our visit

This is an amazing facility! It is very clean and the water temperatures are perfect. Our children would have stayed here until closing. To ride on the chutes, children must have a shoulder height of 1.2m. Tips: Plan how to get to Margaret Island Catch the free shuttle bus from Margaret Bridge end of island Arrive early before it gets too crowded
Thank you for your kind words!
