If you want to immerse yourself in local bath culture and the handful of historic spas Rudas Bath is for you! In a city full of bathhouses, Budapest’s medieval Rudas Thermal Baths are among the most popular. Established as early as the 16th century at the foot of Gellert Hill, the traditional Turkish bathhouse features a swimming pool, six therapy pools, a sauna, and a rooftop Jacuzzi, plus massages and other spa services. Make your own way to Rudas Baths, located right on the Danube!
Important Information
- Your ticket is including a locker, where you can leave your valuables
- Please bring your own towels and slippers, at the spa they can not provide them
- If you like to use the swimming pool, please bring your own swimming cap
We enjoyed an evening here and enjoyed both the indoor and outdoor baths. A highlight was the rooftop pool as the views of the lights on the other side of the Danube were amazing.
Thank you for your kind words!
Spent a couple of hours here one afternoon after walking and exploring Buda. The staff we interacted with were helpful. However, English speakers are somewhat limited. There are signs to help point out the different areas. The different rooms and areas can be a little confusing. All in all, typical thermal baths and not sure if worth the time when there are many other things to explore.
Thank you so much for your kind review!
This was a great place to visit which as one of two couples visiting as friends we thoroughly enjoyed. However despite having throughly checked the website prior to arriving to check when mixed couples were allowed - it’s men only every day in the week bar Tuesday for women and mixed sat/sun - and the opening hours we arrived to be told that we weren’t allowed in as it was within an hour of that session closing. We found no details of this prior to visiting. And only certain sessions allowed you access to the oldest part which is the octagonal pool that includes four smaller pools, as well as the rooftop pool. Essentially we had to go away for tea and come back later to do the late night session that started at 10pm. We were very cross about the lack of communication ahead of visiting but that said once we returned we enjoyed our experience. Highly recommend visiting when you can access both the octagonal pool room and rooftop pool. This was a nice quiet session despite it being late night into the early hours - no party music etc. All in all a relaxing experience. For info Budapest bus service drops and picks up close by - even in the early hours of the morning. I’d say 2 stars for communication but 5 for experience but only if you go when you can access all areas. On that basis I give it a 4. Just a heads up the octagonal pool does have a smell of sulphur as part of its nature.
Thank you for your kind words!
