This is a hugely impressive building both inside and out and maintained in excellent condition (unlike the Palace of Westminster in London!). The tour is a must and is best booked ahead online to avoid disappointment as c 1/2m people visit each year and tour times are limited. There are some stairs but lifts are available for those that cannot manage the stairs.
Thank you for making the time to write a review for us!
We were taken here and stayed outside as part of a tour of Budapest. There were so many interesting facts we were told about here- 40kg of gold was used in interior decoration! The inspiration was the London Houses of Parliament but it is a few metres longer so it is bigger! It is the third largest parliament building in the world. There are 691 rooms and 29 staircases. It took 17 years to build and just 23 years after completion renovations had to start as the original stone chosen was too soft. There are 365 towers incorporated throughout the building (one for each day in the year). One of the flags flying from the front of the building is in solidarity with the Hungarian people now living in Romania from when Hungary’s borders were changed. It is the flag of Szekely Land. But your ticket in advance online and you will need to show ID to get in.
Thank you so much for your kind review!
Its not too old, but its big and beautifull. Definitely worth to see this complex in central Budapest, located along the river Danube.
