Going to a thermal bath in a must when in Budapest, it is a big part of the Hungarian culture and definitely worth doing. Gellért is one of the most famous thermal baths in Budapest, opened in 1918. It has an fantastic architecture and is quite spectacular. I would however advise anyone planning to go here to bring your own towels, slippers (flip-flops or crocs will do), bathing cap (needed only in the indoor swimming pool though!) and of course swimsuit.
Thank you so much for your kind review!
Ended up here late in the afternoon and we had a good time. The building itself is lovely with some fine architecture. There are lots of areas so you won't have trouble finding somewhere to plot yourself down and relax.

I wasn't sure about visiting this thermal bath because of the bad reviews on it but I am glad I did as I totally enjoyed myself. Let me give you a comprehensive guide: Gellert baths is only 10 mins walk from the ibis hotel I stay in, so walk across the liberty Bridge and you won't miss the grand building with the name Gellert on the front. I would suggest you go early in the morning like I did at 9am when it opens. Remember to bring 3 things with you: a) swimming cap - only if you plan to swim in the indoor or outdoor swimming pool, caps are not required for thermal pools. b) Flip flops c) towel - which I pinched from my hotel room
