Before coming here, I was set on just going to Szechenyi baths. My partner convinced me otherwise, so we ended up at Gellert. And then on the last day, we went to Szechenyi baths, so I feel able to compare them both. Why Gellert is better: It's more beautiful, less noisy, and less of a party atmosphere. Showers were easily accessible from the cabins. Compared to Gellert, Szechenyi is more sterile. Most of the indoor baths at Szechenyi looked like shower tiles and looked identical. You're not staring at beautiful mosaic/art like at Gellert. It's crowded at Szechenyi so you can hardly get a spot to yourself. There's also lots of splashing about by the younger crowd in the outdoor pool. The showers at Szechenyi are downstairs from the cabins so it's a small inconvenience. Smell-wise, Gellert smelled less of sulfur than Szechenyi. If I were ONLY going to the outdoor baths, I would choose Szechenyi. Otherwise, Gellert is overall better despite what online reviews may have you believe. We spent 2 hours at each place
