Overview:
Thermal water in the Budapest area has been used at least since the ancient Roman times. The first modern open-air bath of Budapest, the Palatinus, opened on Margaret Island in 1921. At the time Palatinus had the largest pool in all of Europe. New indoor areas were created with the reconstruction: a cute pool for kids, one with thermal water for the adults, and some new saunas with an ice cold immersion pool. Boost up that circulation!
No place for a blanket. Lots of people of all kind during the Summer. Thieves and dirty people included. Not enough lockers and dressing rooms.
Thank you so much for your feedback!
Palatinus is an outdoor only thermal bath and swimming pool complex on Margaret Island and as such it is only open from May to September. It has been there in for a long time with its tall shady trees for the joy of both local people and tourists. It has quiet warm thermal bath to soak your painful joints, a bigger pool for swimmers, another one with still nice temperature for older children and anyone else with a small slide, a baby pool and a toddler pool with toys and sunshade. Also a pool where you can enjoy waves at a regular interval. Also about 3 big slides, but children must be over 140 cm tall to go on them. Bring your picnic blanket and arrive early to find space in the shade as Palatinus is crowded on hot days especially weekends. However, if you don't mind the overcast sky, you'd better off go for those days to avoid feeling like sardines (the water will still keep you warm :) ). You can find warm langos and cheap good coffee as well. It has had a major revamp this summer, so not sure about toilets and changing facilities.
Thank you so much for your kind review!
This is the only one place, of this type - thermal, spa and pool, where you can come with children. It is reasonable place to spend a few hours, and the prices are also reasonable! Nice and clean, it was so quite! They have two indoor pools - for adults and small one for kids, and two outdoors - the small one and olympic.
Thank you so much for your kind words!
