If you want to immerse yourself in local bath culture and the handful of historic spas Rudas Bath is for you! In a city full of bathhouses, Budapest’s medieval Rudas Thermal Baths are among the most popular. Established as early as the 16th century at the foot of Gellert Hill, the traditional Turkish bathhouse features a swimming pool, six therapy pools, a sauna, and a rooftop Jacuzzi, plus massages and other spa services. Make your own way to Rudas Baths, located right on the Danube!
Important Information
- Your ticket is including a locker, where you can leave your valuables
- Please bring your own towels and slippers, at the spa they can not provide them
- If you like to use the swimming pool, please bring your own swimming cap
This place is huge, we spent two hours here, but you could stay longer if you want a massage or other treatments, we just didn't have time. Beware, sometimes there are queues, we had to wait about half an hour to get in. You can hire towels etc... or take your own. The room top thermal bath is great, but very cold outside in December!
Thank you for your kind words!
We had initially planned to go to the much larger Gellert baths but made the right choice in the end. Our hotel staff had recommended this smaller venue as it was less crowded, with far fewer children. The spa had a wide variety of pools, saunuas and baths. Very clean. Good changing and locker facilities. Very clever wristband system for entry into the various areas, but rather unreliable at times: staff had to bleep people through on a regular basis. Rooftop bath an absolute must at night. Despite the outside temperature being a rather chilly minus number, and once you had made the couple of metre dash from the building to the water, the illuminated views of the city and river were fantastic. It was lovely and warm, if a little crowded at times. People were all very friendly and cheerful, all in all a very convivial atmosphere. The all inclusive option was only available to men: I think this may be something to do with the men only and women only days, but just giving you a heads up as you may be as bemused as we were. Perhaps be wise to check in advice if you're considering going all in. We woulkd recommend the bar and restaurant: one of the nicest meals I have ever had anywhere in the world, and at very reasonable prices. They allow you to drink in the bar in your swimwear, just take in a towel to preserve modesty, and prevent the next customer getting a soggy bottom..
Thank you for making the time to write a review for us!
Huge spa, with about 10 saunas, 4 wet rooms, various chill pools and a proper Olympic swimming pool. Prices are more than appropriate, and 3-4 hours are advises. Amazing scenery sitting in an outside pool overseeing all of Budapest in the snow
Thank you so much for your kind review!
