The history of Lukacs Bath reveals that the geothermal hot spring waters coming from deep underground have been used by the St John’s knights in the 12th century. Lukacs Bath has its strengths and specialities, like the many Gratitude Tablets or stone plaques on its walls saying thank you for the healing power of the geothermal waters, or the Himalayan Salt Room for curing respiratory problems. Lukacs Bath may give a small taste of why Budapest is the City of Baths. Come and exeprience it yourself!
Important Information
- Your ticket is including a locker, where you can leave your valuables
- Please bring your own towels and slippers, at the spa they can not provide them
- If you like to use the swimming pool, please bring your own swimming cap
This is a good place to feel the intimate atmosphere of thermal bathing in Budapest. While Gellért and Széchenyi are more well-known and much larger, this bath offers a quieter historic setting in a more off-the-beaten path part of the City. There are multiple pools in the dimly lit interior and a great outdoor leisure pool in a sunny enclosed yellow courtyard. The interior is a typical maze of corridors and rooms but it’s not too difficult to understand. There is another lap pool outside that requires bathing caps that we did not use. Our family really enjoyed this bathing experience and look forward to returning sometime.

Good variety of thermal baths with different temperatures. There is a whole city of saunas inside - from cryo (-10C) to Finnish (+100). Massages and medical treatments are in the same place. Highly recommended!

I really like this bath, I've been there 4 times now over the years. Lukacs is both the old Turkish bath, and the newer, more contemporary spa. There are multiple pools, thermal and not, for swimming and for lounging. Lots of things to do, also lots of people, but it is all still well worth it. The thermal pools are a bliss; steam room in the old thermal part got upgraded this year and is now a lovely tiled thing. There is also a 'sauna village' area but you need to buy the ticket at the start - note nobody will tell you this at the time. The newer part includes outdoor warm pool with lazy river and many many bubble beds and jets. Amazing! ou can stargaze from within a warm bubbly roman bed :)
